Polestar Electric Vehicle Supply Chain ESG Benchmark Development

Polestar had set up comprehensive environmental, sustainability, and governance (ESG) initiatives at their headquarters for ESG reporting and rating requirements. Their procurement team needed to implement those initiatives in their supply chain management but faced several obstacles. These included identifying and quantifying the gaps, communicating with key parties, and obtaining necessary resources. They reached out to our team to help.

We helped Polestar to get prepared for implementation through multiple steps. We conducted a desktop study on major ESG schemes in the industry, aligning Polestar’s initiatives with their existing ESG schemes, and provided training. We benchmarked their position compared to selected ESG schemes, measuring gaps between the aspirations and achievements. Additionally, we analyzed improvement opportunities and obstacles and developed supplier sustainability index collection methods.

Through these efforts, Polestar gained a better understanding of relevant ESG schemes and the relationship between their initiatives and those schemes. They could then fill in any gaps by prioritizing key tasks and the resources needed for implementing each task.
