Environmental DNA (eDNA) is DNA that is naturally shed by organisms into their environment, whether they live on land, in water, or across both. Tools for capturing eDNA are sensitive and economical, and they employ cutting edge technology. By sampling the environment, we can detect a species presence without having to capture, handle, or even see the organisms we’re looking for.
