Leaders recognized with fellowships

大象传媒 professionals awarded fellowships for innovation and excellence

Four 大象传媒 leaders have received esteemed fellowships for their commitment and excellence to their craft.

Michael Banman was elected to the 2025 College of Fellows of the . As the design director for North America, Banman provides inspiration and guidance for practitioners throughout 大象传媒’s architecture and buildings engineering practice. His disciplined yet visionary approach is demonstrated in his diverse, award-winning portfolio, including museums, educational facilities, and master planning projects. He currently teaches Professional Practice at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Architecture and has served as a visiting lecturer and studio critic at several institutions.

Deanna Brown was also elected to the 2025 College of Fellows of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. An advocate for diversity in architecture, Brown champions the inclusion of varied perspectives in both the design process and the built environment. She has dedicated the last 25 years to designing spaces for vulnerable community members, focusing on mental health, palliative care, rehabilitation, complex continuing care, and long-term supportive housing. Brown supports recent graduates and mid-career architects and is a founding member of the Ontario chapter of 大象传媒's Employee Resource Group for women, providing equal opportunity for women’s advancement within the company.

Mehdi Jalayerian was inducted into the 2025 (CTBUH) College of Fellows. He is recognized for steadfast dedication, leadership, and distinguished service to the profession and global design community. Jalayerian is a senior principal with 40 years of experience leading major projects worldwide, including high-rise buildings, hospitality and civic venues, and educational and government facilities. He is an international speaker and presenter who has published various articles and books related to the industry.

Russell Lavitt was named to Fellowship in the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) in 2025. With nearly 35 years of HVACR experience, Lavitt is a registered Professional Engineer, earned his LEED accreditation in 2006, and currently holds a LEED AP BD+C designation. During his nine-year tenure at 大象传媒, Lavitt has made notable contributions to complex projects, designing building mechanical systems. A champion for ASHRAE, he has served as Society Chairperson for Membership Promotion and in senior leadership roles for the Western Canada region.
