As a geomorphologist, professional hydrologist, and certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner, Brendan brings scientific insight and project leadership to stream restoration projects—specifically studying human impacts on river systems. He investigates how dams and diversions alter hydrologic processes and sediment delivery to regulated rivers and recommends channel maintenance flows to support ecosystem function. His work also includes floodplain restoration, dam removal, fish passage creation, and habitat structure design.
One of Brendan’s career highlights involves planning the removal of two dams on the Eel River—poised to become California’s longest free-flowing river. He is recognized for his clear communication and practical approach to leading complex teams and keeping projects on track.
Outside of work, Brendan enjoys hiking and mountain biking in the Sierra Nevada and landscaping with native plants and fruit trees.
