As a group leader, Laura’s role includes strategic and business development, recruitment, and supporting team growth. As an aquatic ecologist, she collaborates closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to achieve project outcomes that mitigate negative environmental impacts.
With experience in both New Zealand and Canada, Laura collaborates with clients across a wide range of sectors and develops strategies for overall ecological improvements. She assesses the effects of infrastructure development, land use, discharges, and physical works on water quality and ecological values for a wide range of receiving environments.
While working on a large dual-discharge wastewater consent, Laura collaborated with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, hydrogeologists, planners, and invested parties to achieve meaningful improvements in surface water quality and aquatic ecology values. This complex project achieved a long-term consent duration by demonstrating proportional improvements to the wider catchment through the team's efforts.
Away from her ecological leadership work, Laura enjoys exploring Christchurch’s outdoors with her family, from hiking in the hills and snowboarding in the mountains to hanging out at the beach.
