Steven’s journey began in the field as a hydrogeologist in the oil sands market, where he developed a thorough understanding of subsurface conditions and environmental monitoring. Over the years, he’s shifted his focus toward geotechnical instrumentation and automation.
After a decade in the field, Steven transitioned to the office, bringing with him a strong commitment to safety and innovation. He currently serves as a project manager, office safety and environment coordinator (OSEC), and leader of a skilled team of automation specialists and technicians. Together, they design and implement advanced geotechnical and hydrogeological data acquisition systems, building telemetric networks that support the open-pit mining industry. Under his leadership, the team prioritizes reducing field exposure risks while enhancing data availability, driving safer, smarter practices across the industry.
Outside of work, Steven enjoys spending quality time with his family, building new projects in his workshop, and volunteering with Scouts Canada, where he shares his passion for exploration and mentorship.
