Daniel is an experienced fire safety design engineer and leads a team specializing in implementation of fire safety strategies for buildings and infrastructure projects. His enthusiasm stems from the belief that his work concerns life safety, property protection, and mitigation of fire outbreaks.
Recently, Daniel has been involved in researching and deriving innovative fire engineering design solutions for mass timber buildings to promote sustainable design. Of all the different structures he’s worked on, prison and timber-built care apartment facilities stand out to him. When it comes to fire safety in these highly complex projects, evacuation isn’t straightforward—occupants can’t just leave during a fire alarm. This makes fire safety strategy much more complex, and requires careful, thoughtful, and creative solutions.
Outside of his fire safety engineering work, Daniel has recently spent a lot of time bonding with his new son. If there is any free time left, he enjoys being in the gym, playing badminton, and, occasionally, running.
